Did you know?
… That in 2007 in Platte County, 30% of pregnancies under the age of 20 ended in abortion? Platte County has the 3rd highest abortion rate in the state. Clay County is not far behind with 25%, while theMissouri state average is 17%.
… In May 2009 there were 9,200 children in state custody in Missouri?
… The average length of stay in foster care in Missouri is 22 months before the court will award permanency? That would be like you staying at the City Union Mission for 22 months.
…For those wishing to adopt, a Home Study is not a Home Study? There is an international home study. There is a domestic private home study. And, there is a state home study. Generally, the three are not interchangeable.
…Did you know that Missouri social workers disagree with the Biblical standards for child discipline?
…The average cost to adopt in the United States is $20,000 - $30,000?
… Almost daily the Kansas City Star runs an article on abortion – George Tiller, Phill Kline, Paul Morrison - ring a bell?
…Adoption is an alternative to abortion?
…The Bible mentions the fatherless 42 times. It is still within God’s character to have compassion on the fatherless despite the complexities of the American system.
Do we remember?
…The home was the first institution that God created?
…That it is the gospel that has the power to save?
…The curses associated with afflicting the fatherless in Exodus 22?
…James 1:27?
…Ours is a spiritual battle and this is OUR hometown?
…All things work togetherfor good to those who love God? Raising a child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord is His will.
… That we ourselves have been spiritually adopted and are a “sacred selection?”
…The Lord promises to do exceedingly abundant above all that we ask or think?
With that in mind, we join with David Corazza and implore you to accept his challenge to
1) adopt;
2) fund an adoption;
3) Put someone in contact with Sacred Selections. As he says, “Be God’s eyes and ears.” We will add two more challenges.
4) Write your state representative to loosen the policies and procedures that make adoption an extreme burden.
5) Last of all; join with us in song and spirit to benefit a good cause on the weekend of August 28th and 29th.
In Brotherly Love,
Tim and Natalie Burger
